Rehab City Cairo Egypt

Over the past decade, at least, Cairo has been expanding extremely fast. More and more cities are being built to accommodate the influx of immigrants. One of my personal favourites has to be Rehab City.

Rehab City is part of the New Cairo plan and covers an area of around 10 million m2 , to accommodate around 200,000 residents. It is made up of 10 districts all of which have integrated facilities.  www.alrehabcity.com

Rehab is a community in itself, it is surrounded by desert so the weather is a lot more bearable in the summer time. Every entrance and exit is gated and guarded by security, not to mention the security on the streets. Although it is not neighbouring any other city immediately it is only 10minutes drive away from places like Maadi and Nasr city via the Ring Road.

Rehab has its very own shopping Malls, a fantastic market and a plan to build another. A great food court with many restaurants to choose from including your McDonalds, KFC and Costa Coffee. International British, French and Islamic schools. Its own sporting Club. Range of banks, dentists and doctors. Mosques and Church to cater for all. It even has its very own Rehab Buses....To be honest you really don’t have to leave Rehab at all for anything......

The best thing about Rehab has to be the clean streets and the unbroken roads and amazingly people drive in a much more civilized manor in Rehab...!!!!! There is very little ‘Horn Honking’ and the atmosphere is a lot more relaxed.

Rehab already attracts a lot of immigrants and when you’re out on the street you will hear many languages. The stall holders in the market are also very accustom to the fact that Rehab has many non-Arabic speakers and they are all most willing to help. And if you can’t be bothered to go to the market just get a few numbers of the stalls and shops you like because they all deliver....... Fantastic!!!!

Property prices are a bit more expensive in Rehab than other areas of Egypt. A typical rental of an unfurnished 2 bed flat is around 3000LE or furnished starting from around 4000LE per month. Villas to buy start from around 2million LE. Rehab 2, which is just an expansion of Rehab,  is now in its building process and I feel will be an even bigger success. Its residential and commercial properties are now on sale.... worth considering!!!! www.aradyelarab.com can help you with this.

Rehab really is an amazing addition to Egypt, an excellent place to start a new journey. It feels safe and secure not to mention beautiful (just try to ignore the building sites as it is still expanding...).

Came across this which I thought was interesting....

Nasr City Cairo Egypt

When I thought of where to start with my quest for exploring Egypt I thought of no better place to start than the Egypt’s Capital: Cairo. Cairo its self has a population of around 10.9 million and is made up of many districts, it is constantly expanding outwards as the population grows and new areas are being built. My main Focal point today is on Nasr City:

Living in Nasr City
Map of Nasr City, Cairo, Egypt
Nasr City was established around the 1960’s as an expansion to Heliopolis and is now one of the major districts in Cairo. Within Nasr City there are           10 districts with the 10th having the most immigrants within the district.
When thinking of where to live, Nasr City is a good place to start for immigrants as it has everything to offer, affordable living, great schools, many educational centres, shopping malls, numerous markets but still a very middle class area. You will find that many people speak English and French in this area and even if they don’t they are very welcoming and helpful.

It is not very far from Cairo International Airport and has all the forms of transport within the city. Taxis are normally your best bet they are fitted with meters so the cab drivers can’t charge tourists a different rate. Buses and Micro Buses also run in the area although I don’t recommend them due to all the pushing and shoving on these things!

Al Azhar Unvercity, Nasr City, Cairo, Egypt
Al Azhar Unversity

A major attraction for immigrants to Nasr City is its closeness to Al Azhar University which is one of the best places to learn Arabic and Islam.

A typical example of rental in Nasr City for a 2 bed furnished flat is around 3000LE per month, you can search for flats to rent in Nasr City on www.aradyelarab.com. Most flats in Nasr City have Bowabs (doormen) which are families that live in the ground floor guarding the building. They can be a great help as they can run errands for you, take out your rubbish and clean the building, you just pay them around 70LE a month.

City Stars
City Stars is the biggest shopping Mall in Egypt. It has everything you could possible want over 7 floors. Extensive food courts, world famous shops, 21 screens cinema complex, amusement centre (magic galaxy) even it’s very own indoor market or “souq” (Khan el Khalili treasures). Some of the major names you can find there are Marks and Spencers, H&M, Next, Timberland, Zara, Claires, Haagen Dazs, Chillies, Steak Out,  Costa Coffee, Starbucks the list can go on and on....

Some of the best National and International Schools are in Nasr City but I feel this is a subject in itself and it deserves a discussion of its own.....

Any comments on this subject or want me to discuss another..... just post your thoughts......
